1985

Helgi Kr. Eiríksson and family start Lumex and open a store in Síðumúli 12

1986

The world's spotlight focuses on the Höfði Summit.

1987

Kringlan opens. Lumex handles the lighting in 60% of the new shopping mall's stores, pioneered in halogen lighting in Iceland.

1987

Lumex move's the store to Síðumúli 12

1992

Changes in the owner group, Diðrik steps down and Ingi comes in.

1993

Lumex uses a new logo.

1997

Lumex moves to own housing in Skipholt 37.

1999

Lumex buys the ground Kolstaðir and has a development there.

2000

Bolli and Svava in 17 choose Lumex to design a new lighting for their stores in collaboration with foreign designers.

2001

Ari Magg publishes a photography book in collaboration with Lumex. Production begins on Box lights for Lumex, a product line that has enjoyed great popularity as designed for the Icelandic market and in constant development. Smáralind is opened and there Lumex sees to designing lighting for large shops, e.g. for Hagkaup, Pennann and more.

2001

Belgians do not understand how much is sold by lights in Iceland so that Ingi goes outside to hold a presentation about the description of the Arctic.

2003

The LX company was established.

2003

Frees London show

2004

Lumex deisgn the lighting for the water collection by artist Rony Horn.

2006

A new concept developed for Síminn in collaboration with foreign parties. Many projects run outside the country, in London, New York, Paris, Hong Kong and elsewhere, both for Icelanders and foreign companies. Lumex buys a stake in Rafport that sells electrical materials. The Salt Company established a collaboration with Lumex and Pennin with a new thought in the design of furniture, lighting and interiors.

2008

The Box lights from Lumex presented at an exhibition in Stókkholmi.

2010

Grillmarkaðurinn. Tom Dixon.

2015

Collaboration with Páll in Húsafell.

2015

Lumex opens the cellar with furniture from Tom Dixon, Moooi and others.

2016

Lumex looks back over his 30-year history and keeps moving steadily toward the light.
